Loved the book, great story! Your writing style makes the book feel less like a book and more like a story being told by a friend.
Hopefully you decide to write another story. Maybe bring back Josh? If the book is available in hardcover, could you let me know where I could find it?
P.S. My ex-girlfriend was also seeing someone behind my back before I found, though I still haven’t found my Nicole.
I certainly do want to write another one, though I’m not sure if it’ll include Josh. I’m sure, whoever it’s about, that I’ll try and keep the same style that you enjoyed so much.
It’s not currently in hardcover, but I might be able to swing a print-on-demand of it, though it won’t be cheap. Follow me on twitter @aldermusic or find me on Facebook and I’ll let you know if/when it’s available.
Oh, and give it time to find your Nicole. She’s out there
I just read your book on my Kindle. Finished it in less than 24 hours – your style of writing is highly readable and I enjoyed some of the little character flourishes and details that added depth to the story and characters.
Even though I’m in a technical field, I tend to be slightly put off by references to specific websites that tend to date the story too heavily to a specific time period – those were the only portions of the book that I zoned a bit on.
The best part was that your book didn’t take any time to pull me in even though I don’t tend towards relationship type stories. I loved the descriptions of the dog peppered throughout the book.
I donated to express my appreciation for the enjoyable read.
I read this book during the summer. It’s such an amazing story. I love the way you word everything. All the details of thoughts you give each character are incredible. I normally don’t like to read about lots of thoughts, but you certainly made them very readable. And first time ever after I read a book, I had the urge to writing something about it.
Please let me know if there a hard copy, I really want a copy that I can flip through any time. And looking forward to your next book!
David
I just at like chapter 11 of your book that I downloaded from my Android phone. I found you out of bordum, but I haven’t put the phone down all day. I love your choice of words. We’ve all been in Josh’s situation and I love seeing myself in him. (I’m a girl though. haha).
Thanks for the kind words Gabby! I’ll definitely let the world know when the next one is completed. Hopefully it’ll be sometime later 2010. Find me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter for all the latest news.
Hi David, I got a droid for my Christmas, downloaded Aldiko, and next thing I knew I was reading your “How to Disappear Completely”. I couldn’t put it down and finished with in two nights! Your story was so honestly told with so many familiar scenes, dialogs and feelings! It was wierd sitting in my bed reading from my phone but I loved it so much. Josh really came alive for me. And I think I even fell in love with him. Lucky Nicole. Please please write more!
Excellent read! I downloaded the book from feedbooks and it sat forr quite some time on my TBR list in my Kindle before I got to read it. I didn’t expect much of it, frankly, as this is not the kind of book I’d normally read.
But, I definitely had to change my opinion: humoristic but not cheap humor (I grinned on more than one occasion), realistic dialogues and character interaction and a story that kept me guessing till the end. You gave me a few hours of enjoyable entertainment. Thanks for that.
Like the others say, love you style and hope to read some more of your work in the future!
Was an interesting read. It is rare that I pick up fiction. This was well written and I literally stayed up late in the night to finish it. Keep up the good work.
Hey David. Similar to Bruno above I downloaded it for free to try out Stanza on my IPhone. Wasn’t expecting much…got a big surprise though. I think this book is excellent however very different to what I would normally read.
Well written with good humour and characters throughout. On many occasions I grinned with complete understanding with the musings of Josh and his take on life.
Hopefully you’ll write more…
A great bargain for free so I was pleased to donate for that reading pleasure
I just finished reading How To Disappear Completely that I downloaded from feedbooks. It was such a nice read for a cold winter weekend. Although English is not I really appreciated your subtle humor. Loved the way you describe certain situations, and characters. Keep on writing, you are really good at it. I’ll definitely recommend the book to my friends.
I just finished reading your book and thoroughly enjoyed it. I especially liked how you insert familiar feelings in the story that we felt at some point without consciously realizing or putting words on, but that we instantly recognise when you write about them. And as a big fan of Radiohead’s work, the title certainly strikes a chord. In fact, I am actually listening to Kid A as I write this! I was just wondering to what extent was this story autobiographical? There are certainly a few hints suggesting it might refer to things that actually took place in your life. Cheers, Luc from France PS: you should try one of these French soft smelly cheese some day, they’re actually very nice!
